Carfest Festival Beach

Aug 3, 2015   //   by Steph   //   Blog, Festival Beaches, Temporary Beach Build  //  No Comments

Beach events are proud to have created and delivered Carfest Norths festival beach this weekend.

Carfest is the brain child of Chris Evans, combining music with motors and mayhem. Carfest donates a minimum of 25% ticket sales to BBC Children In Need.

Thoughts and prayers go to the family of Kev Whyman, the stunt pilot who lost his life performing at the festival. RIP.

Life’s a Beach at the IOW Festival 2014 went with a bang and was our largest and most creative urban beach design yet.

The sun shone and made the beach the perfect place to relax with a smokin’ cocktail on our bespoke natural beach furniture whilst checking out the beach stage and the impressive graffiti and sand art.

All our acts were amazing (thank you) and brought the beach alive. Particularly popular as always was the islands very own Derek Sandy who got the crowd singing and dancing and Chainska who filled the beach and got everyone ska-dancing, and of course the loveable, Loveable Rogues put on a typically bold and lively performance to a packed (and hot!) beach.

Dagny was beautiful, the Hoosiers put on a slick performance, Kitten and the Hip were jumping and we had a surprise appearance by James Smith from Britain’s got Talent who we know we’ll all be seeing a lot more of.

A happy sunny weekend was had by all!

See you next year…..

Lifes a Beach at I.O.W Festival

May 21, 2014   //   by Steph   //   Beach Events, Blog, Festival Beaches, Temporary Beach Build  //  No Comments

Lifes a Beach at the mighty Isle of Wight Festival will be kicking off in 23 days and is coming back bigger and better than ever with a massive 1600 square metre temporary urban beach.

This year the theme is Newport Beach with graffiti artists, sand art, fire eaters, pallet furniture and a large undercover area (just in case!), beach bar and the finest glistening golden sands to sink your tootsies into or build your best ever sand palace. The sand artists will be talent scouting.

In the top spot on Thursday night sees the return of the cheekiest boys in pop the “Loveable Rogues” who packed out the beach last year.

Friday night’s headliner is still to be announced.

On Saturday the beach stage is being headlined by one of our favourite bands ‘The Hoosiers” who have just released a mighty fine comeback album.

And popular electro swing set up ‘Kitten and the Hip’ are headlining on Sunday.

Also working the beachstage will be a diverse array of new musical talent with ska/reggae sounds whilst the sun shines and pop and electro swing taking us into the twilight hours. Our resident DJ Damian Walsh will continue the party with his classic house party anthems into the small hours.

There’s no need to feel guilty about not visiting the beach whilst on the island this year! Grab your flip flops and bucket and spade and join us for a beer on the beach at the IOW Festival 2014.

See you on the sand…..

I.O.W Festival Headliners Announcement

Jan 31, 2014   //   by Steph   //   Archives, Blog, Festival Beaches  //  No Comments

Beach Events assisted in the announcement of the Isle of Wight Festivals Saturday night headliners yesterday, with the creation of a giant sand sculpture of the bands logo and name in the golden sands of Appley Beach in Ryde.

The sand sculptures were created over 2 days using 200 tonnes of sand and were heavily guarded by security until the announcement was unveiled to the worlds media at 2pm yesterday.

The band is of course the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who said of their engagement : ‘To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special.’

John Giddings commented “Finally- we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit…and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival…Rock the Wight!”

Beach events created an awesome temporary urban beach in the middle of a field at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival in June 2013.

With an authentic beach bar serving original cocktails and beach stage showcasing  up and coming new bands such as The Waylayers and The Loveable Rogues, we catered for thousands of happy festival goers under sunny skies in Penny Lane.

Highlights included Leroy Thornhill from The Prodigy’s DJ set on the Saturday night as the fire jugglers performed. The huge crowds that appeared for The Loveable Rogues who gave a typically cheeky and personal performance, and the highly addictive Smokin Apple Pie cocktail!

Oh and the marriage proposal on stage, congratulations to the loved-up couple from Notts.

Waylayers at Life’s a Beach

Jun 12, 2013   //   by Steph   //   Beach Entertainments, Beach Events, Blog, Festival Beaches  //  No Comments

Lifes a Beach are buzzing to have the Waylayers on the beach stage on Saturday at 6. Check out the best Canadian online casinos list before this wonderful event!

Waylayers consist of Harry Lee (vocals, synths), Dave Norman (bass) and Joe Andrew  (guitar). Together they create music that has been described as ‘atmospheric pop’. Fusing elements of electronica and indie-rock, they create the characteristic Waylayers’ sound.

AVB-002_475After touring Europe and spending some time away in the studio honing and perfecting their craft, East London trio Waylayers are back with their new 6 track EP entitled ‘Fault Lines’ due in June 2013 , recorded at Abbey Road. The first track ‘S.O.S’ has been described in the press as “a futuristic pop triumph” whilst ‘Magnets’ (the bonus track) is epically euphoric; bathed in a fresh pop sensibility and packed full of synths and catchy hooks. The videos for both tracks were directed by Alex Brown, who has worked with the likes of The Maccabees, Klaxons, La Roux and James Blake.

The band were chosen as Steve Lamacq’s ‘Band of the Week’ recently  on his BBC 6 Music show and were played for consecutive weeks on Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 show , as well as receiving rave reviews from the mainstream national music press and blogs. The boys have also been featured on the official Maximo Park remix EP along with Dutch Uncles with their reworking of ‘The National Health’ and their official Mikill Pane remix ‘The Chairman of the Bored’ was featured on his latest EP release (Mercury/Universal). Waylayers‘ previous single ‘Fires’, appeared on the Kitsuné Maison 10 compilation and was produced by Ewan Pearson (Delphic).
