Waylayers at Life’s a Beach

Jun 12, 2013   //   by Steph   //   Beach Entertainments, Beach Events, Blog, Festival Beaches  //  No Comments

Lifes a Beach are buzzing to have the Waylayers on the beach stage on Saturday at 6. Check out the best Canadian online casinos list before this wonderful event!

Waylayers consist of Harry Lee (vocals, synths), Dave Norman (bass) and Joe Andrew  (guitar). Together they create music that has been described as ‘atmospheric pop’. Fusing elements of electronica and indie-rock, they create the characteristic Waylayers’ sound.

AVB-002_475After touring Europe and spending some time away in the studio honing and perfecting their craft, East London trio Waylayers are back with their new 6 track EP entitled ‘Fault Lines’ due in June 2013 , recorded at Abbey Road. The first track ‘S.O.S’ has been described in the press as “a futuristic pop triumph” whilst ‘Magnets’ (the bonus track) is epically euphoric; bathed in a fresh pop sensibility and packed full of synths and catchy hooks. The videos for both tracks were directed by Alex Brown, who has worked with the likes of The Maccabees, Klaxons, La Roux and James Blake.

The band were chosen as Steve Lamacq’s ‘Band of the Week’ recently  on his BBC 6 Music show and were played for consecutive weeks on Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 show , as well as receiving rave reviews from the mainstream national music press and blogs. The boys have also been featured on the official Maximo Park remix EP along with Dutch Uncles with their reworking of ‘The National Health’ and their official Mikill Pane remix ‘The Chairman of the Bored’ was featured on his latest EP release (Mercury/Universal). Waylayers‘ previous single ‘Fires’, appeared on the Kitsuné Maison 10 compilation and was produced by Ewan Pearson (Delphic).

Loveable Rogues at Life’s a Beach

Loveable Rogues

Lifes a Beach are lucky to have the Loveable Rogues on the beach stage on Thursday at 8pm. So grab a luminous cocktail and a sand space  to watch ‘Britains Got Talents’ most memorable performers.

Cheeky chappies Loveable Rogues charmed the Britain’s Got Talent audience – and judges – with their witty self-penned song “Lovesick” during the audition stage. The feel-good tune sent them through to the next round and caused a million crushes all over the country. They came back even stronger in the Semi Finals – singing the stupendously catchy song once more, and sailing through to the BGT Final.

The countdown has begun, Life’s a beach 2013 at the Isle of Wight Festival kicks off in 6 days at 4pm. Bigger and better than before with a larger stage and plenty of high profile acts aswell as a new sheltered area (just in case!). The golden sands of beautiful Bembridge beach have been shipped in to create the largest ever temporary urban beach at a major music festival.

Hosting a cocktail bar, barbecue, coffee station, massage, alternative face painting, fire jugglers, sand sculptures, live bands and D.J’s, this year promises to beat the rest.

For the first time there is now an official IOW Festival app providing festival goers with line ups, maps and other important info.

Thursday on the beach sees guest and house D.J’s playing beach vibes followed by Kings of Vocals, Tich, Lovable Rogues then Ibiza Club Classics with Damian Walsh to really get the party started.

The sun always shines at Lifes a Beach so bring your flip flops and bucket and spade and experience a new dimension of the awe-inspiring IOW Festival.

We all dream of beaches, we bring them to life …

Isle of Wight Festival Beach

In 2011 Beach Events joined forces with Solo and created the first ever beach at a major music festival.

‘Lifes a Beach’ at the Isle of Wight Festival was an instant hit with festival-goers and was bombed out at all times.
Luring the punters was an authentic beach bar serving cocktails, a sandstage, café, deckchairs, massage, sand sculptures and Zumba classes, all on a huge temporary beach.
2012 saw ‘Lifes a Beach’ return, this time twice the size!
I.O.W 2013 plans include a sheltered area for possible rainy days, although the I.O.W Festival is known for booking the sunshine.

In 2006 John Hawkins, in conjunction with T-Mobile and Birmingham City Council, created one of the largest ever fan parks for the 2006 World Cup.

Alongside the viewing area which featured a stage, bars and a HUGE screen, we built an international sized beach soccer stadium in which we hosted a month long beach sports extravaganza to coincide with the nations favourite sports event.

The event kicked off with live music, dancers and a Legends Beach Soccer Tournament featuring former football players from Birmingham, West Brom and Aston Villa.

This was followed by an International Beach Soccer Event featuring the current World Champions France, Portugal, Holland and of course England.

The one and only Eric Cantona was the guest of honour as the Manager of the French Team, he had only just retired from playing, alongside his brother Joel who promotes the sport in France.

Seating 1500 the temporary beach soccer pitch was built on a concrete floor in front of the Millenium Point utilising approximately 900 tonnes of sand. It remained there for 6 weeks and was also used for beach soccer coaching for inner city school kids.

The overall event was a huge success attracting thousands of sports fans as well as teenage girls to the gigs in the evening featuring the likes of Mc Fly.

No Ordinary Party

Beach Events joined forces with Ellie Kelly and JWT last week to create an authentic pirate themed children’s party for Calpol.

The lucky birthday boy had won the competition by writing about when he had missed a birthday party because of a nasty cold.

So we built a mini beach in a village hall using 2 tonnes of sand and covered the walls with a beach themed scene setter, provided the branding, and removed it all afterwards!

Ellie Kelly and JWT  organized the pirate themed banquet, goodie bags and other pirate paraphernalia that perfected the theme.

Jasper had a great time and it was the best birthday party ever!

Beach events and England beach soccer are proud of our long history of working with Birmingham City Council. We delivered our first major beach event there in 2006 when we stage a full FIFA beach soccer event that included Eric Cantona’s France, Holland and the then worlds best team Portugal.

Since then we have worked with all kinds of brands including Disney XD, Carlsberg and Nuts TV delivering outstanding international and community events.
