Aug 3, 2015   //   by Steph   //   Blog, Festival Beaches, Temporary Beach Build  //  No Comments

Beach events are proud to have created and delivered Carfest Norths festival beach this weekend.

Carfest is the brain child of Chris Evans, combining music with motors and mayhem. Carfest donates a minimum of 25% ticket sales to BBC Children In Need.

Thoughts and prayers go to the family of Kev Whyman, the stunt pilot who lost his life performing at the festival. RIP.

Watford town centre is set to be transformed into a big beach for a week, with 100 tonnes of real sand to be set around the pond in The Parade.

The free beach – measuring 20 metres long by 15 metres wide – for residents and visitors to relax on as if they are at the seaside.
Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill said: “This beach is going to be great fun for everyone. Why go all the way to the seaside when we are going to bring the beach here? You can go to some brilliant shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs as well when you visit our beach in Watford.

“Plus we’re going to have a whole range of free activities going on every day at the Big Beach – from a children’s pirate party to a 40-piece brass band. Everyone’s welcome to join in, and they’re for all ages. Plus there will be beach huts and beach food here.”

The Big Beach will run from Saturday, July 25, to Sunday, August 2, staying open from 9am to 9pm every day. It is one of a series of major community experiences the council is staging as part of the Big Events series to celebrate its refurbishment of The Parade.

Portsmouth Permanent Beach

Mar 6, 2015   //   by Steph   //   Blog, Permanent Beaches  //  No Comments

Work has begun on the regeneration of Portsmouth’s permanent beach volleyball courts on Southsea Parade.

The urban beach courts are used for beach volleyball and as a training venue for the England Beach Soccer team but had become unfit for purpose.

Beach Events have been called in to redesign and build a new permanent urban beach that will prove fit for purpose in years to come.

Beach sports are gaining momentum in the public eye, particularly with the introduction of Beach Volleyball in to the Olympics.

They are a great way of getting fit as the sand makes the body work harder at moving and keeping its balance.

They are also a great spectator sport being fast moving with plenty of goals/points scored, typically in beautiful settings.

Southsea and Portsmouth are very lucky to have their own permanant sand courts to introduce these fresh and dynamic sports to the local community.

Summer 2014 was a bumper season for us, our busiest yet! With permanent sports beaches, temporary urban beaches, natural beach events, brand activations and the launch of 2 new beach festivals, we hardly had chance to empty the sand from our shoes.

Thanks to all our clients and partners for the best summer yet.
