The mighty Hoosiers will be headlining the Rhyl Beach Festival this weekend on Rhyl Seafront.

Band members Irwin Sparkes, Martin Skarendahl, Alan Sharland and Sam Swallows will be putting on a typically slick and energetic performance including new songs from their latest album The News from Nowhere along with some of their previous hits including Choices and Goodbye Mr A.

Following on from their UK Tour and festival circuit the Hoosiers are looking forward to rocking in Rhyl.

Also performing are Kitten and the Hip including former Freakpower member Ashley Slater. With an electro swing beat that gets the crowd jumping, these guys are worth seeing.

The lovely and talented James Smith who reached the final of BGT this year will be joining us in Rhyl. He has a beautiful voice and really connects with his songs and audience. Check him out before he hits the big time!

Cardboard Boats

Cardboard Boats

What a laugh! The first All at Sea festival took place last week at Small Hope Beach in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

Saturday saw the islands first ever Birdman competition with 5 brave competitors taking flight including an angel goose, a clown and The Green Lantern.

Sunday saw the Cardboard Box Boat race with some highly inventive creations including a giant yellow duck, space shuttle and pirate boat. Amazingly most of them completed the course, sailing out to the buoy and back again.

The weekend was huge success and a great family friendly event for all. We can’t wait for next year!

The winners were : Champion Birdman – The St Helens Goose, William Clarke

Best Comedy Moment – Birdy, Alan Hawkins

Cardboard Boat Race Winners – The Lucky Duck and The Wight Shuttle, the Gregory Family

Runners -up – Bob, Will and Iain Lawrie

Life’s a Beach at the IOW Festival 2014 went with a bang and was our largest and most creative urban beach design yet.

The sun shone and made the beach the perfect place to relax with a smokin’ cocktail on our bespoke natural beach furniture whilst checking out the beach stage and the impressive graffiti and sand art.

All our acts were amazing (thank you) and brought the beach alive. Particularly popular as always was the islands very own Derek Sandy who got the crowd singing and dancing and Chainska who filled the beach and got everyone ska-dancing, and of course the loveable, Loveable Rogues put on a typically bold and lively performance to a packed (and hot!) beach.

Dagny was beautiful, the Hoosiers put on a slick performance, Kitten and the Hip were jumping and we had a surprise appearance by James Smith from Britain’s got Talent who we know we’ll all be seeing a lot more of.

A happy sunny weekend was had by all!

See you next year…..
