Apr 17, 2014   //   by Steph   //   Beach Builds, Beach Events, Blog, Urban Pop Up Beaches  //  No Comments

Cwmbran is getting its very own urban sandy beach that will be built in Gwent Square, Cwmbran this summer.

Beach-24

Over 150 tonnes of white sand will transform the square into a summer haven, giving sun-seekers a place to unwind and play from 12 July to 2 September.

The 20m x 20m free attraction will allow visitors to relax on deckchairs, feast on ice cream and take part in beach yoga.

For families, there will be games and live music. A community fashion show is planned and local retailers will have special offers and product samples for shoppers.

Paul Rich, centre manager at Cwmbran Shopping said: “The beaches developed by Beach Events have been used at the Olympics, in addition to popular festivals such as the Isle of Wight, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring it to Cwmbran.

“To have 150 tonnes of sand in the centre of Cwmbran will be fantastic for the local community. The beach will allow people to enjoy a white sandy beach, without having to travel far afield. It’s great to be able to tell shoppers they can pack their sunhat, flip flops and sun cream when they pop down to Cwmbran Shopping this summer.”

Leighton urban beach

Leighton Buzzard is to have its very own ‘urban play beach’ for the summer. The temporary beach will be created using silken sands to create a 20m x 17m urban beach. The beach will compliment the splash & Play and skate park in Parsons Close Park from the 7th June, creating an almighty fun recreational area for the community to benefit from during the summer months. Pirate Parties, Talent Shows and Punch and Judy shows are some of the fun events that Leighton Linslade Town Council will be providing city beach goers. Urbanites no longer need to head to the coast to enjoy the relaxing ambience of a sandy beach as urban beaches are growing in popularity and seem to be popping up everywhere. 2 Deckchairsnewham 1Urban beach2 Deckchairs2 Deckchairs

I.O.W Festival Headliners Announcement

Jan 31, 2014   //   by Steph   //   Archives, Blog, Festival Beaches  //  No Comments

Beach Events assisted in the announcement of the Isle of Wight Festivals Saturday night headliners yesterday, with the creation of a giant sand sculpture of the bands logo and name in the golden sands of Appley Beach in Ryde.

The sand sculptures were created over 2 days using 200 tonnes of sand and were heavily guarded by security until the announcement was unveiled to the worlds media at 2pm yesterday.

The band is of course the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who said of their engagement : ‘To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special.’

John Giddings commented “Finally- we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit…and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival…Rock the Wight!”

Private Beach Party in Henley

Beach Events erected a pop-up private beach at a client’s house to help deliver a ‘vintage surf themed party’ for a very lucky birthday boy.

The beach was dressed to perfection and looked amazing. Party-goers were delighted and bemused to get to wiggle their feet in the sand in November in Henley-upon-Thames.

“Was only expecting a couple of plastic palm trees and a couple of dodgy deck-chairs. This is amazing!” Ian Morris, Pocket-Lint

Last month saw us build our first temporary beach in a central London bar and pizzeria.

It was created as a platform to promote the Turtle Beach gaming headset, a headset that contributes to the ultimate gaming experience.

The Turtle Beach launch was attended by over 100 journalists and served as a launch pad to generate a series of coverage for the Turtle Beach brand and in particular the new ‘Call of Duty” Black Ops headset.

Newham’s own summer beach

Sep 16, 2013   //   by Steph   //   Beach Builds, Blog, Temporary Beach Build, Urban Pop Up Beaches  //  No Comments

Newham in East London, the main host borough of the London Olympics in 2012 ,also gave its young and diverse inhabitants their very own temporary sandy beach for the summer.

We built the beach by the Docklands so that with the view of the river beach goers could really believe they were ‘beside the seaside’.

The beach became the base for many of the boroughs summer events including the Waterfront Festival, Beach Volleyball, Live music, Punch and Judy and Big screen Opera. The beach has proved so popular they have already booked for next year.

Beach Events look forward to coming back!

Beach events created an awesome temporary urban beach in the middle of a field at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival in June 2013.

With an authentic beach bar serving original cocktails and beach stage showcasing  up and coming new bands such as The Waylayers and The Loveable Rogues, we catered for thousands of happy festival goers under sunny skies in Penny Lane.

Highlights included Leroy Thornhill from The Prodigy’s DJ set on the Saturday night as the fire jugglers performed. The huge crowds that appeared for The Loveable Rogues who gave a typically cheeky and personal performance, and the highly addictive Smokin Apple Pie cocktail!

Oh and the marriage proposal on stage, congratulations to the loved-up couple from Notts.

Costa Blanca and Jet 2 Urban Beach

Jul 25, 2013   //   by Steph   //   Beach Builds, Blog, Sponsorship Activation, Temporary Beach Build  //  No Comments

Back in May, Beach Events were asked to help the Spanish Tourist board to promote the sunny resort of Costa Blanca and Jet2 in Glasgow.

We built them an urban beach in the city centre with a Jet 2 check-in booth and provided promotional staff to engage with the public and talk about the highlights of Costa Blanca as a holiday destination.

The adults and children of Glasgow loved finding a beach in the middle of the city and plenty chose the Costa Blanca for their next holiday.
